COPYRIGHT POLICY

 

The International Journal of Justice and Police Sciences (IJJPS) is a Gold Open Access journal committed to making scholarly research freely accessible while maintaining the rights and integrity of authors and their work. This policy outlines the copyright and licensing terms for articles published in the journal.


1. Copyright and Licensing

When submitting a manuscript to the International Journal of Justice and Police Sciences (IJJPS), authors are required to sign a license agreement with IIJPS to allow the journal to publish their work. The agreement includes the following terms:

  1. Copyright Retention:

    • Authors retain the copyright of their articles.

  2. Publishing License:

    • Authors grant IIJPS the license to publish the article and to identify itself as the original publisher.

  3. Re-Use Rights:

    • Authors retain broad rights to re-use the content of their articles in future publications or other works.

  4. Creative Commons Licenses:

    • Upon publication, IJJPS articles are published open access under one of the following Creative Commons license:

      • CC BY-NC-ND (Creative Commons Attribution Non-Commercial No Derivatives 4.0 International License):

        • Allows non-commercial sharing of the article as long as the authors are credited.

        • Requires permission for commercial use or for creating derivative works or adaptations.

    Exceptions to Copyright Policy:

    • Articles previously published under differing policies or co-published with other publishers may have unique licensing conditions. In all such cases: Access to these articles remains free of fees or access restrictions.

By signing the license agreement, authors ensure compliance with IJJPS’s open-access policy while maintaining significant rights over their work.


2. Republication by Third Parties

  • Any third party wishing to republish, reproduce, or distribute articles published in IJJPS for commercial purposes must obtain prior written permission from the Publisher and Editor-in-Chief.

3. Author Rights

Authors retain the following rights:

  • Ownership of Copyright: Authors retain the copyright of their articles.

  • Reuse of Content: Authors may reuse their work for personal, teaching, or institutional purposes, provided it is non-commercial and proper acknowledgment is given to the original publication in IJJPS.

  • Archiving: Authors are encouraged to deposit the published version of their articles in institutional or subject-specific repositories after publication.


4. Open Access Policy

  • IJJPS follows a Gold Open Access model, ensuring that all articles are freely accessible online immediately after publication without subscription fees.

  • Articles may be used for non-commercial purposes under the terms of the CC BY-NC-ND license.


5. Publisher Responsibilities

The publisher ensures that:

  • All published content remains freely accessible under the specified licensing terms.

  • Licensing terms are communicated transparently to authors and readers.

  • Articles are preserved and archived to ensure long-term accessibility.


6. Acknowledgment of Third-Party Material

  • Authors are responsible for securing permission to use third-party materials (e.g., images, tables, or text) not covered under open licenses.

  • Proper acknowledgment must be provided for all such third-party content.


7. Plagiarism and Ethical Compliance

  • Authors must confirm that their submitted work is original and does not infringe upon the copyright of others.

  • IJJPS reserves the right to address copyright infringements or ethical breaches, including retraction of published work.


8. Attribution Requirements

When reusing or sharing content from IJJPS:

  • Proper attribution must be provided to the authors and the journal.

  • A link to the original published article must be included.
